Amcor, a global leader in responsible packaging solutions, has announced a further multi-million-dollar investment in its advanced manufacturing facility in Sira, Karnataka, India, reinforcing its commitment to the healthcare sector across India and South Asia.

The investment strengthens the company’s capabilities in developing high-performance

healthcare packaging and patient-centric drug-delivery solutions to meet rising regional demand. A new production line will significantly increase manufacturing capacity, improve production flexibility, and reduce lead times, enhancing supply reliability for both global pharmaceutical companies and emerging local customers. The expansion is also expected to create more than 30 new jobs.

The upgraded facility incorporates advanced manufacturing technologies and fully automated online vision systems to improve quality and consistency in the production of ophthalmic containers, injectable vials, and other specialized healthcare packaging products.

Amcor has also enhanced the sustainability profile of the Sira facility through the installation of more energy-efficient systems. The plant operates entirely on renewable energy and holds International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS certification.

“This addition to our Sira plant reflects our strong progress in building world-class healthcare capabilities in India,” said Jean-Marc Galvez, chief operating officer of Amcor’s Global Rigids Packaging Solutions division. “The investment strengthens our strategically located manufacturing network, combining global expertise with local production capabilities to deliver faster response times, reliable supply and consistently high-quality pharmaceutical packaging for customers across the region.”

In addition to Sira, Amcor operates three dedicated healthcare packaging facilities in India, including a plant in Bangalore equipped with next-generation manufacturing technologies supporting ophthalmic and nasal delivery systems, inhalation devices, and injectable medicine components.

The latest expansion follows a series of investments aimed at strengthening Amcor’s healthcare packaging capabilities across Asia-Pacific, including the recent opening of an advanced coating facility in Malaysia.
