BASF is expanding its dispersions production capacity at its Mangalore site with the addition of a new production line. The expansion underscores BASF’s confidence in India’s long-term growth and its continued commitment to supporting customers across architectural paints, construction chemicals and paper applications.
As demand for high performance dispersions continues to evolve, this addition will strengthen BASF’s ability to provide reliable local supply and advanced solutions tailored to the needs of customers in India and the broader region.
“The expansion of our Mangalore site will strengthen synergies across BASF’s Asia Pacific manufacturing network, ensure dependable supply, and enable us to provide innovative, cost-competitive dispersion solutions to our customers in India and the region,” said Andreas Fechtenkoetter, Senior Vice President, Dispersions Asia Pacific, BASF.
India continues to rank among the fastest-growing major economies globally, fueled by favorable demographics, rising consumption, and government initiatives that promote infrastructure development and manufacturing. To meet the increasing demand for premium and sustainable dispersions, BASF is strengthening its Mangalore operations, supporting customers’ long-term growth and the evolving needs of key end-use industries.
Building on its strong acrylic value chain and extensive dispersions portfolio, BASF further reinforces its leadership in advanced, performance-driven technologies across key sectors:
Architectural: Next-generation Acronal® product ranges with low-VOC and low-odor properties offer superior stain and scuff resistance, enabling premium paints that deliver high-quality finishes while supporting sustainability and healthier indoor environments.
Construction: Innovative dispersion technologies provide high tensile strength and elongation for advanced waterproofing systems, complemented by specialized solutions for sealants, floor coatings, and infrastructure applications.
Paper & Packaging: High-solids binders and the Basonal® PLUS low Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) series enhance paper coating performance and align with India’s sustainability objectives, while BASF’s technical expertise supports the development of new paper mills and flexible packaging solutions.
“The new line is designed to manufacture advanced dispersions that deliver targeted performance and sustainability benefits,” said Milind Joshi, Business Director, Dispersions, South Asia, BASF. “Acronal® and Basonal® technologies enable low-VOC, durable formulations across paints, construction, and paper applications, backed by reliable local production.”
