BASF inaugurates expanded Alkyl Polyglucosides (APG) production capacity at its Bangpakong site in Thailand

BASF has announced the expansion of its Alkyl Polyglucosides (APG) production footprint in Asia with the establishment of a new plant at its Bangpakong site in Thailand. This strategic investment is aimed at strengthening BASF’s presence in a key growth region and enhancing its ability to serve customers with greater agility, flexibility, and reliability through a more resilient regional network.

BASF currently manufactures APGs at its facilities in Düsseldorf (Germany), Cincinnati (Ohio, USA), and Jinshan (China), forming a robust global production network to support diverse industry needs. The new Bangpakong plant will bolster regional supply capabilities in Asia, while an additional APG production line in Cincinnati—expected to be completed by 2026—will further expand capacity in North America. Together, these initiatives reinforce BASF Care Chemicals’ commitment to delivering sustainable, high-performance solutions with speed and adaptability across major markets.

APGs are bio-based, readily biodegradable, and mild secondary surfactants derived entirely from natural, renewable feedstocks. Their sustainable and high-performance profile, coupled with their non-ionic nature, makes them highly versatile for use in combination with other surfactants. APGs are widely utilized across personal care, home care, industrial and institutional cleaning, industrial formulations, and agricultural applications.
