Brenntag, a global distributor of chemicals and ingredients, has opened a new AdBlue® facility in Samut Prakan, Thailand, after receiving official certification from the Quality Management Center (QMC) of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA). Located about 30 kilometres from central Bangkok within Brenntag’s warehouse complex, the facility is strategically positioned to efficiently serve both domestic and regional customers. This development marks Brenntag’s first VDA-certified AdBlue® production site in the Asia Pacific region, complementing its certified facilities operating in other parts of the world.

The Samut Prakan facility is equipped with dedicated storage tanks, closed transfer systems, and controlled filling lines to ensure product purity, traceability, and contamination-free handling, in full compliance with VDA and ISO 22241 standards.

Chan Huan Yong, President, Brenntag Essentials Asia Pacific, said, "The VDA certification of our Thailand facility, the first in our Asia Pacific network, marks an important milestone in Brenntag’s regional growth. It reinforces our commitment to supporting customers with high-quality emissions-control solutions. With local production backed by global quality standards, we can serve customers across Asia Pacific more efficiently and reliably.”

AdBlue® is a high-purity urea solution used in selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems to convert nitrogen oxides (NOx) into harmless nitrogen and water vapour. The VDA licence enables Brenntag to produce, package, and distribute AdBlue® from its Samut Prakan facility to customers across Thailand and the Asia Pacific region, supporting the growing demand for reliable and compliant diesel exhaust fluid.

Natthiya Kunjara, General Manager, Thailand, Brenntag Essentials APAC, said, “Our Samut Prakan facility was engineered to meet the highest specifications for AdBlue®. Every process, from production and storage to packaging, is designed to meet strict AdBlue® quality standards and ensure reliable supply for customers. With VDA certification now secured, we are ready to support customers across Thailand and Asia Pacific.”

AdBlue® is widely used in industries that operate diesel-powered vehicles and machinery. It plays a key role in the transport sector, including heavy-duty trucks, buses, and light commercial vehicles equipped with SCR technology. Industries such as construction, mining, and agriculture also rely on AdBlue® to reduce emissions from equipment like excavators, tractors, and other off-road machinery. In addition, the power generation and marine sectors are increasingly adopting AdBlue®-type fluids to help large stationary engines and vessels comply with tightening environmental regulations across the Asia Pacific region.
