Chapelton Introduces “Sustaina Black” Food-Safe Packaging Using BioBlack Technology

Nature Coatings, an award-winning biochemical company that transforms wood waste into black pigments, has announced a strategic partnership with Chapelton, a leading UK-based supplier of sustainable paper and cartonboard products. Together, they are launching Sustaina Black—a cutting-edge, sustainable black barrier coating for packaging applications.

AAs a flagship product in Chapelton’s new Sustaina range, Sustaina Black incorporates Nature Coatings’ BioBlack pigment, which offers a non-toxic, high-performance alternative to petroleum-based carbon black. Unlike conventional black pigments, BioBlack is carbon-negative, free from harmful PAHs, and safe for direct food contact.
