Evonik Expands UV Label and Release Liner Coating Capabilities in Shanghai

Evonik has upgraded its UV-curable coating capabilities at the Evonik Shanghai Innovation Park, reinforcing its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and customer collaboration in the label and release liner industry. The company has upgraded its coating system from a three-roll coater to a five-roll coating platform, allowing laboratory-scale testing under conditions that better match modern commercial production environments.

The upgraded five-roll coating system enables more precise formulation evaluation and process optimisation by closely matching the configurations and operating conditions of its customers' production lines. It also provides greater flexibility for customised product development and facilitates a more efficient transition from laboratory-scale testing to commercial-scale production.

In addition, the upgraded system has a state-of-the-art UV/LED inert curing unit that allows seamless switching between conventional UV and LED curing technologies. This enhanced capability supports the industry's growing shift to LED curing solutions, which are more energy-efficient, produce fewer emissions, and are more efficient than traditional UV curing systems.
