Hallman/Lindsay Paints, a long-standing business based in Sun Prairie, has announced the acquisition of O’Leary Paint, which operates across Michigan and northern Indiana. The move marks a significant step in strengthening Hallman/Lindsay’s presence across the Midwest.
Sun Prairie has served as home to Hallman/Lindsay Paints for over 70 years, where the company operates both a manufacturing facility and retail location within the Sun Prairie Business Park at 1717 N Bristol Street. The acquisition reinforces the company’s long-term commitment to growth while maintaining its strong local roots.
The combined organization enhances Hallman/Lindsay’s position as a leading independent paint manufacturer in the Midwest by expanding its retail network and improving its ability to serve professional contractors, property managers, and homeowners. The transaction brings together two family-owned businesses with deep community ties and a shared focus on quality, service, and technical expertise.
For customers, the transition is expected to be seamless. O’Leary Paint customers will continue working with their existing teams and trusted local experts, with no changes to day-to-day operations, relationships, or service levels.
At the same time, customers will benefit from broader capabilities. By integrating manufacturing resources, product portfolios, and technical expertise, the combined company will offer an expanded range of high-performance coatings, finishes, and support solutions backed by decades of industry experience.
"This is an exciting step forward for both organizations," said Jim Alberts, VP of Hallman/Lindsay Paints. "We've always believed in the strength of independent paint companies and the importance of local relationships. With O'Leary Paint joining our family, we're able to build on that foundation and deliver even more value to our customers without changing the people or service they trust."
As part of a phased and carefully managed transition, the O'Leary Paint brand will continue operating across Michigan and Indiana, now endorsed by Hallman/Lindsay Paints. This strategy aims to maintain O'Leary Paint’s strong local presence and customer loyalty, while progressively introducing the Hallman/Lindsay brand to these new markets.
"Our priority is to make this transition seamless for our customers and employees," said Jim Alberts. "This is not about replacing what works, it's about enhancing it. Together, we can offer more products, more expertise, and more opportunities for the customers we serve every day."
