Imerys has completed the acquisition of Great Lakes Minerals (GLM), a U.S.-based specialty minerals processor serving the refractory and abrasives industries. The acquisition strengthens Imerys' presence in North America and expands its portfolio of mineral solutions for high-performance industrial applications.
Through the transaction, Imerys adds several complementary products to its offering, including calcined bauxite, brown fused alumina, tabular alumina, and white fused alumina. These minerals are widely used in refractory linings, abrasives, technical ceramics, and heavy-duty construction applications due to their high durability, thermal resistance, and mechanical strength.
The newly acquired products complement Imerys' existing brands, including MULCOA®, TECO-SIL®, and ALODUR®, enabling the company to provide a broader range of solutions tailored to customer requirements across industrial markets.
In addition, the acquisition enhances Imerys' local processing, warehousing, and distribution capabilities in North America. The expanded footprint is expected to improve customer service, strengthen supply security, and support the delivery of value-added mineral solutions across the region.
