Interstuhl Büromöbel GmbH & Co. KG, based in Meßstetten, is among Europe’s leading chair manufacturers and has been producing premium office chairs for over 60 years. The company now utilizes Dürr’s innovative coating technology in the production of its industrial and laboratory chairs. Using the EcoGun AS AUTO pro spray gun, the interior of the foam mold is coated with precision. When the liquid PU foam is poured into the mold, it absorbs the coating and instantly takes on its color.

“The paint used is special—it serves multiple functions,” explains Fabian Schilt, Head of the European Industrial Sales Team at Dürr. “In addition to providing color, it provides the necessary conductivity. Since the chairs are used in cleanrooms and ESD areas, among other environments, it is essential that no static charge is generated.”

Compact Paint Supply with EcoSupply2 Core

In September 2025, Dürr partnered with PU plant specialist Hennecke to install advanced painting equipment on an existing robot at Interstuhl’s Meßstetten-Tieringen facility. The setup features a painting robot fitted with the EcoGun AS AUTO pro spray gun, six EcoSupply2 Core paint supply stations, and the EcoAUC 2K control unit. While Interstuhl currently works with three colors, the system is already configured to accommodate up to five.

The EcoSupply2 Core paint supply station combines compact design with user-friendly operation, making it ideal for industrial environments where space is limited. At Interstuhl, the stations are enhanced with EcoPump9 series pumps, valves, and paint change blocks—components that have particularly impressed the company. This is because the paint material used poses special challenges: it is difficult to flush, hardens rapidly, and has a tendency to clog valves.

Ready for Practical Use

Comprehensive testing at Dürr’s Test Center in Ledeč nad Sázavou, Czech Republic, confirmed that Dürr valves feature a dead-space-free design—preventing material buildup and ensuring clean, reliable processing.

“We were convinced by Dürr right from the first demonstrations of the painting technology,” says Andreas Kunst from Interstuhl. “The technical team was always there to support us and led the project to success with a great deal of expertise and commitment.”
