During the conference, JCMC formalised a memorandum of cooperation with COSCO SHIPPING Bulk for 125 newbuilding bulk carriers. The agreement reinforces their enduring partnership and lays the foundation for deeper collaboration on future shipbuilding projects.
The collaboration aims to improve vessel efficiency through advanced hull performance solutions, supporting Jotun's Clean Shipping Commitment to reduce carbon emissions, protect marine biodiversity, and enhance fuel efficiency.
Under the agreement, the fleet will be fitted with high-performance antifouling coating systems that reduce hull resistance, optimise fuel consumption, lower emissions, and minimise their environmental impact.
Selected vessels will also be assessed for Hull Skating Solutions (HSS) based on operational requirements, as part of ongoing efforts to improve energy efficiency and environmental performance.
Commenting on the agreement, Nikos Markakis, General Manager of JCMC, said: “This agreement represents an important milestone in our long-standing cooperation. By continuously enhancing our hull performance solutions and services, we aim to support our customers in improving fleet efficiency and progressing their decarbonisation ambitions.”
Song Hourong, General Manager of the Technology & Innovation Division at COSCO SHIPPING Bulk, added: “This cooperation will further enhance the environmental performance and operational efficiency of our newbuilding fleet, supporting the sustainable development of the shipping industry.”
The partnership supports COSCO SHIPPING Bulk’s low-carbon development roadmap and demonstrates a shared vision to accelerate the transition toward more efficient, environmentally responsible, and sustainable shipping operations.
