Liebherr-Aerospace has achieved a significant milestone at its Singapore service center with the industrialization of an advanced TCS/PACS protection coating process for heat transfer equipment components used in various aircraft programs.

The TCS (Trivalent Chromium System) enhances corrosion resistance and paint adhesion, while the PACS (Post Application Conversion Sealer) seals and strengthens the protective layer to ensure long-term durability. Together, these technologies deliver performance comparable to legacy coatings—without the environmental drawbacks.

This new coating process fully complies with REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals), a European Union regulation aimed at safeguarding human health and the environment from chemical-related risks. Compliance requires the transition from traditional chromium-based treatments to more sustainable, environmentally friendly alternatives.

“Our Liebherr team has worked relentlessly together with our long-term partner ATC (Applied Total Control) to achieve this milestone,” said Joël Cadaux, General Manager Aerospace at Liebherr-Singapore Pte Ltd. “The integration of the REACH compliant TCS and the PACS coating process marks a significant step towards a more sustainable customer service and demonstrates our commitment to innovation and environmental responsibility for the benefit of our customers. We comply with the regulations applicable in the EU and in the APAC region, which avoids regulatory risks and delays in aircraft operation. In addition, with the new coatings we are anticipating future global regulations. Our customers avoid costly retrofits or recertification at a later date of the life cycle, as their components already meet future configuration standards today.”

In line with Liebherr-Aerospace’s global customer service strategy, additional service centers are set to follow—among them the Shanghai (China) facility, which plans to introduce REACH-compliant processes in the first quarter of 2026. The same applies to third-party sites licensed to repair Liebherr-Aerospace products.

These developments reflect Liebherr’s long-term commitment to industrial excellence and regulatory leadership within the framework of cross-regional certification. The company’s continued focus on sustainability, aligned with its customers’ goals, reinforces its position as a trusted and forward-looking partner in the Asian aerospace ecosystem.
