Mitsui Chemicals Group Establishes Coating Technical Center in India

Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. announced that its subsidiary, Mitsui Chemicals India Pvt. Ltd., has established the Coating Technical Center (CTC) in Gurugram, Haryana, India. An opening ceremony for the new facility was held on February 18, 2025, marking a significant step in enhancing the company’s technical support capabilities in coatings and engineering materials.

With increasing concerns over environmental issues and stricter government regulations, India is experiencing a rising demand for sustainable packaging. In particular, there is a strong push to reduce disposable plastic use and transition to alternative materials. The CTC has been set up as a hub to provide specialized technical support, enabling MCIND to promptly and effectively address the needs of customers in the Indian market.

Equipped with state-of-the-art coating machines capable of handling various coating methods—including gravure, reverse gravure, and air knife—along with advanced analyzers, the center will allow for quicker issue resolution within India. This eliminates the need to send products to Japan for testing and evaluation, streamlining the process. Additionally, the CTC will assist customers in product development through R&D initiatives focused on cutting-edge coating technologies while also offering technical guidance on maximizing the benefits of Mitsui Chemicals’ products. With the launch of the CTC, MCIND is evolving from a mere supplier of raw materials into a comprehensive solutions provider, committed to addressing India’s social challenges. By continuously strengthening the CTC’s capabilities, developing innovative products, and establishing research centers, Mitsui Chemicals aims to solidify its presence in India—the core of the Global South.
