Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (PJSC MMK) has begun producing flat steel products with an advanced corrosion-resistant coating made from a zinc-aluminium-magnesium (Zn-Al-Mg) alloy. This innovative product was developed through a joint effort between MMK’s Scientific and Technical Centre and experts from the Chief Rolling Department.

Flat steel with the new Zn-Al-Mg alloy coating delivers superior durability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness for steel structures and components. Notably, the 80-class corrosion protection provided by this zinc-aluminium-magnesium coating has outperformed traditional 275-class zinc coatings in tests, allowing for a reduced coating mass while significantly extending the service life of finished products and structures.

These enhanced properties make the new coating especially well-suited for applications in the construction industry—particularly in light steel framing systems—as well as in automotive manufacturing and agriculture. PJSC MMK’s innovative Zn-Al-Mg coated steel offers a reliable, long-lasting solution that delivers significant cost savings over the entire life cycle of the customer’s finished products.

MMK has been a long-standing and active participant in Metal-Expo exhibitions. As one of the world’s largest steel producers and a leading force in Russia’s iron and steel industry, Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works will be present at Metal-Expo’2025—the 31st International Industrial Exhibition—taking place from November 11 to 14, 2025, at the CEC Expoforum in Saint Petersburg. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet and engage with the company’s experts during the event.
