NCP Coatings LLC, a leading provider of industrial and military coatings, has announced the acquisition of Glyptal Inc., a well-established manufacturer of high-performance insulating enamel technologies for the electrical and automotive sectors. This marks NCP’s first acquisition since receiving private equity backing and aligns with its long-term strategy to become a mid-market leader in high-performance, technology-driven coatings.
Originally founded as a development division of General Electric, Glyptal later transitioned to an independent company and spent decades specialising in insulating coatings used in electric motors, transformers, coils, and other industrial applications. The brand is widely recognised for its durable, thermally stable, and reliable insulation solutions across both the OEM and repair markets.
As part of the agreement, the Glyptal brand will be retained, while its operations will be integrated into NCP Coatings’ headquarters in Niles, Michigan. Customers will continue to benefit from Glyptal’s trusted formulations and now gain access to NCP’s broader product portfolio, including a wide range of industrial and military coatings.
The transaction closed on July 31, 2025. Members of Glyptal’s family ownership will remain involved during the transition period to ensure a smooth handover before fully exiting the business.
Doug Mattscheck, Chief Executive Officer of NCP Coatings, stated, “Acquiring Glyptal is a meaningful and strategic step forward for NCP. Glyptal’s legacy in the electrical coatings space aligns well with our vision to expand into speciality industrial segments where technical performance matters most. This acquisition complements our portfolio, extends our reach into new applications, and signals our intent to continue scaling the business through technology-led growth. We’re excited to welcome Glyptal into the NCP family.”
The acquisition underscores NCP Coatings’ ongoing momentum and strategic focus on pursuing targeted opportunities that strengthen its technical expertise and expand its market presence. With the support of Century Park Capital Partners—a Los Angeles-based private equity firm specialising in partnerships with owner-led businesses—NCP is accelerating its vision to become a leading player in the mid-market industrial and military coatings industries.
