Seprify and the Grolman Group have expanded their partnership into the coatings, paints and inks market with the commercialization of SilvaFolia™, Seprify’s cellulose-based white pigment technology. Building on their existing collaboration in cosmetics and personal care, the partnership aims to accelerate the adoption of sustainable pigment solutions across Europe and Turkey.
SilvaFolia™ is designed to reduce reliance on titanium dioxide (TiO₂) while maintaining the whiteness, opacity and surface properties required for modern coating formulations. Developed from renewable cellulose feedstocks, the technology offers coatings manufacturers a more sustainable alternative to conventional white pigments.
The Grolman Group will leverage its technical expertise, formulation support, application testing capabilities and established commercial network to support customer evaluations and accelerate the market adoption of SilvaFolia™ across coatings, paints and inks applications. The collaboration reflects Seprify’s strategy to expand its cellulose platform into higher-volume industrial markets while promoting innovative and circular material solutions.
“The success of our collaboration around SilvaLuma showed the value that our cellulose platform can bring to the market,” said Lukas Schertel, CEO and co-founder of Seprify. “Expanding our partnership with the Grolman Group to include SilvaFoliaTM is a natural next step. Their technical expertise and market reach make them a strong partner as customers explore new approaches to whiteness and opacity in coatings, paints and inks.”
“We are pleased to extend our relationship with Seprify and introduce SilvaFoliaTM to our customers,” said Florian Grolman, Managing Director of Grolman Group KG. “The technology combines a strong sustainability profile with promising application performance, addressing growing demand for innovative solutions in the coatings and inks industry. We look forward to supporting customers as they evaluate its potential across a broad range of formulations.”
SilvaFolia™ is now available for large-scale commercial trials, with Seprify and the Grolman Group working closely with coatings, paints and inks manufacturers to evaluate the technology in industrial applications.
The partnership supports Seprify’s strategy of expanding its cellulose-based materials platform into high-volume industrial markets. Following its successful adoption in cosmetics, food and nutraceuticals, SilvaFolia™ is now being introduced to coatings, paints and inks, enabling manufacturers to assess its performance in larger-scale and more demanding industrial formulations.
