Siegwerk, a global supplier of printing inks and packaging coatings, has announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire Hi‑Tech Inks, a leading Indian manufacturer of flexographic and gravure printing inks. The acquisition is expected to significantly strengthen Siegwerk’s presence in India’s rapidly growing flexible packaging market, with the combined entity projected to become the country’s largest player, holding more than 20% market share.

The move reflects Siegwerk’s long-term commitment to India and the wider Asia region, which remains a key strategic growth area for the company. By combining complementary capabilities, expanding production capacity, and broadening the product portfolio, Siegwerk aims to deliver enhanced innovation, improved supply reliability, and greater value to packaging converters and brand owners across India.

Hi-Tech Inks will contribute a strong portfolio that includes solvent-based and water-based inks, metallic and specialty-effect inks, varnishes, and overprint varnishes (OPVs), further strengthening Siegwerk’s global offering. The acquisition will also expand Siegwerk’s manufacturing footprint in India with facilities in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, and Vapi, Gujarat, enhancing production capacity and operational flexibility. Following the integration, the combined business will employ around 1,700 people across India, strengthening Siegwerk’s ability to serve customers with improved responsiveness and technical support.

“Hi-Tech Inks has built an impressive legacy of quality, agility, and customer focus, and we are delighted to welcome them into the Siegwerk family,” said Ashish Pradhan, President of Siegwerk Asia. “This acquisition will strengthen our position in India’s flexible packaging market and will expand our ability to serve customers with greater scale, capability, and innovation. Together, we will be well-placed to shape the next phase of growth for the industry.”
“Siegwerk’s commitment to quality, sustainability, and customer focus aligns perfectly with the values that we have always stood for” said Karan Mahajan, Managing Director, Hi-Tech Inks. Joining the Siegwerk family represents a significant milestone for Hi-Tech Inks. By combining our strengths, we are creating new opportunities to grow, innovate, and deliver even greater value to customers across India’s flexible packaging industry.”

Completion of the transaction is anticipated in the coming weeks, subject to customary closing conditions. The acquisition of Hi-Tech Inks represents Siegwerk’s largest deal since its 2005 acquisition of SICPA’s packaging inks business, marking a significant milestone in the company’s growth strategy. The move further strengthens Siegwerk’s long-term commitment to India’s packaging industry and its ambition to support customers with advanced technologies, dependable supply, and future-ready solutions.

By combining their expertise, capabilities, and shared values, Siegwerk and Hi-Tech Inks aim to lead the next phase of growth in India’s printing inks and coatings market, fostering innovation, expanding opportunities, and delivering sustainable value to customers and stakeholders.
