Independent Company Launch Surventis

Surventis, formerly BASF Coatings, has officially launched as an independent company after completing its carve-out from BASF. The company is one of the world's leading suppliers of automotive coatings and surface treatment solutions, generating annual sales of approximately €3.9 billion and employing around 10,700 people. Carlyle-managed funds, in partnership with the Qatar Investment Authority, hold a majority stake in Surventis, while BASF retains a 40% ownership stake.

Surventis unveiled its new corporate brand, reflecting its commitment to scientific excellence, continuous innovation, and technological leadership as an independent company. The new identity also emphasises close collaboration with customers and partners to drive future advancements in the industry.

Under its new name and brand identity, Surventis will continue to develop, manufacture, and market coatings and surface treatment solutions for industrial, automotive, and refinish applications worldwide. The company's portfolio includes well-established brands such as Chemetall®, Glasurit®, and R-M®, offering high-performance and sustainable coating solutions.

Leveraging decades of industry expertise and long-standing customer relationships, Surventis serves over 42,000 customers in more than 140 countries through a global network of over 30 production and research and development facilities. The company is headquartered in Münster, Germany, home to the world's largest integrated paint manufacturing site.

Surventis Positions Itself as a Leading Coatings Technology Company

As an independent company, Surventis aims to enhance its operational agility and strategic focus while accelerating growth. Backed by Carlyle, the company plans to strengthen its global capabilities and local operations through targeted investments, leveraging Carlyle's experience in developing standalone industrial businesses. Surventis will focus on driving innovation, operational excellence, and customer-centric growth to strengthen its position in the global coatings market.

“Today marks an exciting new chapter for Surventis and for all of our employees around the world,” said Jens Luehring, Chief Executive Officer of Surventis. “I want to thank the entire team whose dedication and hard work have brought us to this milestone. We are building on more than 130 years of coatings expertise and some of the most trusted brands in the industry as we begin our journey as an independent company. Our customers will benefit from a faster, more focused partner, with our full attention on the surfaces they make and sell. Their success is our success. We are already a leader in this industry, and our ambition is clear: to become the leading coatings technology company.”
“As an independent company, Surventis is exceptionally well-positioned to accelerate innovation, deepen customer partnerships, and capture global growth opportunities. We are looking forward to supporting Jens, and the Surventis management team in their next chapter,” said Tanaka Maswoswe, Partner at Carlyle.

Surventis will continue to offer the same products, technologies, brands, and technical expertise following its transition to an independent company. Its portfolio across all business segments will remain unchanged, ensuring continuity in product quality, reliability, and customer service.
