Univar Solutions, BASF Broaden Agreement to Deliver Advanced Ingredients for Polyurethane and Polymer Systems

Univar Solutions USA LLC, a leading global distributor of speciality ingredients and chemicals, announced that it and its Canadian affiliate, Univar Solutions Canada Ltd., have been named exclusive distributors in the United States and Canada for select BASF speciality ingredients serving industrial applications. Under this expanded agreement, Univar Solutions’ Ingredients & Specialities division will offer customers enhanced access to BASF’s portfolio, including Capromer™, 1,6-Hexanediol (HDO®) in both molten and flake forms, and epsilon-caprolactone. These high-performance ingredients are widely used in polymers, plastics, coatings, and adhesives, providing industrial manufacturers with greater efficiency and innovation opportunities.

Capromer™, HDO®, and epsilon-caprolactone are widely utilised by formulators as key starting materials and building blocks for developing high-performance coatings, plastics, textile fibres, and other industrial products. Valued for their versatility, these chemistries enhance durability, flexibility, and weather resistance. HDO®, in particular, plays a critical role in producing industrial coatings—including lower VOC formulations—as well as polyurethanes and adhesives. It is also an essential component in epoxy systems used to manufacture wind turbine rotor blades and lightweight construction parts for the automotive sector.
