AkzoNobel and Axalta to Adopt Axanzo Name Following Merger
AkzoNobel and Axalta Coating Systems have announced Axanzo as the name of their combined company following the completion of their proposed merger. Announced in November 2025, the merger aims to create a global coatings leader with greater scale and market reach to support sustainable growth and accelerate innovation. Following the merger, the combined company is expected to trade on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Euronext Amsterdam under the ticker symbol AXZ.
“We’re excited to announce the new name for our combined company,” says AkzoNobel CEO, Greg Poux-Guillaume, who will also be CEO of the new organization. “Axanzo signals a bold new start for a company which will be stronger in every way. It’s a launchpad for going further and faster than we ever could alone, embodying the pace and power to innovate, the strength to deliver and the excellence to succeed.”
Chris Villavarayan, CEO of Axalta, who will be Deputy CEO of the combined company, adds: “Axanzo will continuously reset the standard of what coatings can do. The new name perfectly captures our shared ambition to push boundaries, honoring our heritage and offering an exciting glimpse of what’s to come.”
The new name reflects the heritage of both companies and combines their strengths to mark a new chapter for the coatings industry. The merged business will bring together around 100 trusted paint and coatings brands, serving customers in more than 160 countries through a diversified and balanced product portfolio.
“Axanzo will focus on delivering uncompromising performance to sharpen our competitive edge, while establishing a profitable and sustainable path forward as a world leader in coatings,” adds Poux-Guillaume. “By forging our expertise, the best of each of us will become the standard for all of us.”
AkzoNobel and Axalta will continue to operate independently until the merger is completed, which is expected in early 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. The announcement of the new name will not affect existing customer and partner relationships, with both companies continuing to provide services through their current teams and established brands.
