AkzoNobel Announces €22 Million Investment to Modernize Decorative Paint Production in France
AkzoNobel has unveiled a plan to its employee representatives and workforce in France, featuring a €22 million investment to transform the Montataire site into a flagship facility for decorative paint production. This initiative underscores the company's enduring commitment to industrial excellence and its operations in France.
AkzoNobel is implementing measures to streamline, modernize, and optimize its operations, ensuring long-term success while maintaining a strong presence in France. The proposed plan aims to enhance competitiveness and drive sustainable growth by improving operational efficiency.
Key elements of the plan include reorganizing commercial and support functions, as well as restructuring the distribution network, which involves transferring some outlets to independent partners and closing others.
These changes are expected to result in the reduction of up to 211 positions and the creation of 29 new jobs in France. Implementation of the plan will be phased, beginning in May 2025 and continuing through the end of 2026. Consultation procedures with local social partners are already underway.
In line with its Industrial Excellence program, AkzoNobel announced in 2024 the closure of manufacturing sites in Groot-Ammers (Netherlands), Cork (Ireland), and Lusaka (Zambia). Production from these locations has been relocated to other regional facilities.
