Arkema and Senior plc Expand Partnership to Accelerate Development of Next-Generation Battery Materials

Arkema, a global leader in speciality materials, and Senior plc, a leading provider of battery separator technologies, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen their long-term strategic partnership and collaboratively drive innovation across the battery value chain.
Under this strategic partnership, Arkema and Senior plc will expand their collaboration across technical, commercial, and application-driven initiatives. The cooperation will focus on Arkema’s existing and future battery material portfolios, as well as Senior's advanced separator technologies and industrialisation expertise. The partnership is designed to accelerate the development, validation, and large-scale deployment of innovative material solutions for next-generation batteries, supporting the rapid growth of the global new energy sector.
Key areas of collaboration will include advanced adhesion technologies, precision deposition and coating processes for electrodes, low-temperature cell assembly, and emerging semi-solid battery manufacturing technologies. By combining Arkema’s expertise in advanced speciality materials with Senior plc's in-depth capabilities in separator design, manufacturing, and large-scale industrialisation, the partnership aims to improve battery performance, safety, and production efficiency. Through this alliance, both companies intend to reinforce their positions within the global battery ecosystem by leveraging complementary technologies and a shared commitment to innovation, quality, and sustainability.
Senior plc is a global supplier of high-performance separator films for the lithium-ion battery market, supporting safer and more efficient energy storage solutions across electric vehicles, consumer electronics, and renewable energy applications.
With strong research and development capabilities and manufacturing operations spanning China, Southeast Asia, Europe, and the United States, the company plays a critical role in advancing next-generation battery technologies from laboratory development to large-scale commercial production.
