Toyo Ink India to Increase Liquid Ink Production Capacity by 1.5 Times

India — Toyo Ink India Pvt. Ltd., part of Japan’s Artience Group, has announced plans to expand liquid ink production at its Gujarat plant in western India to meet the rising demand from the country’s packaging sector. The new facility, slated to be operational in 2028, will increase the company’s overall production capacity by roughly 1.5 times.

As the world’s most populous nation, India is expected to see sustained growth in its packaging market, driven by a growing middle class and shifting dietary habits. This expanding demand for liquid packaging inks is a key factor behind the company’s decision to scale up its production capabilities.

“The decision to expand production capacity comes at a time when our Gujarat plant is nearing full capacity amid India’s surging demand,” explains Shekhar Barua, head of the liquid ink and plastic colorant business units at Toyo Ink India. “This expansion marks a pivotal step in our journey to lead India’s liquid ink market. Toyo Ink India began its liquid ink business in 2011 through imports. Local manufacturing started in 2013 with the launch of the Delhi plant, followed by the Gujarat plant in 2021. By rapidly introducing products tailored to Indian market needs, the company has steadily strengthened its brand presence and expanded its market share.
