Arkema increases its Kynar® PVDF production capacity in China to meet rising market demand

Arkema has announced a 20% expansion of its Kynar® PVDF production capacity at its Changshu site, with the new unit scheduled to begin operations in 2028. The expansion aims to support growing demand across key applications, including EV batteries, energy storage systems, coatings, chemical processing, semiconductors, water filtration, and wire and cable. The project will also meet high operational excellence standards, reflecting Arkema’s ongoing commitment to enhancing manufacturing performance across its global operations.
Laurent Tellier, Senior Vice-President of Arkema’s High Performance Polymers and Fluorogases said "This expansion marks an exciting milestone for Arkema, as we are investing once again with confidence to increase and strengthen our capabilities in Changshu. This investment will allow us to continue to support our customers’ growth with even more agile and reliable supply, while addressing the market’s need for constant and rapid innovation.”
The project is backed by Arkema’s strong global R&D network, reinforcing its leadership in advanced PVDF applications and technologies. This network includes the Changshu R&D center in China, along with facilities in France, Japan, South Korea, and the United States. Together, these centers enable close collaboration with customers and accelerate the development of high-performance solutions for the energy transition and advanced manufacturing sectors.
