Star Step Expands Global Coatings Platform with DAAS Acquisition

Star Step Performance Coatings Group has expanded its coatings business by welcoming Italian manufacturer DAAS & Chemicals to its growing portfolio. The addition strengthens Star Step’s expertise in industrial wood coatings and marks its first expansion of manufacturing operations beyond the United States.

Headquartered in Pordenone, Italy, DAAS & Chemicals specialises in industrial wood coatings, particularly coatings for wooden pallets, along with other speciality applications. The company operates manufacturing facilities in Italy, the Philippines and the United States, serving customers in more than 60 countries.

The acquisition expands Star Step’s manufacturing footprint across North America, Europe and Asia. It also adds DAAS’s formulation capabilities, technical expertise and research and development resources to the group. The combined businesses aim to share technologies, manufacturing capabilities and market knowledge to support product development and growth.

DAAS will continue operating under the leadership of co-founder Carlo Della Toffola as general manager, while co-founder Stefano Antoniazzi will remain involved as an advisor. The company will retain its customer relationships and technical expertise while gaining access to Star Step’s wider commercial and manufacturing resources.

The addition of DAAS further strengthens Star Step’s position in the speciality coatings sector and creates opportunities to expand its international reach and industrial coatings capabilities.
