Arkema, a global leader in speciality materials, and Catalyxx, a pioneer in bio-based chemicals, have announced a strategic partnership. The collaboration will focus on creating a new value chain for low-carbon, bio-based acrylic resins by harnessing Catalyxx’s innovative proprietary technology.
Catalyxx plans to build a pioneering industrial facility to produce bio-alcohols, including bio n-butanol, from bioethanol. Leveraging a patented technology validated at its demonstration plant in Seville, Spain, these bio-alcohols deliver a substantially lower carbon footprint compared to fossil-based alternatives.
Arkema is exploring the use of these bio-alcohols as feedstocks for the commercial-scale production of bio-based acrylic resins with reduced carbon emissions. These resins are intended for high-performance applications in coatings and adhesives for new energy solutions, e-mobility, living comfort, and sustainable infrastructure markets.
