Accurate colour matching remains a crucial yet time-intensive part of vehicle refinishing. Although digital colour-retrieval tools have improved body-shop efficiency, identifying subtle variations in shade, texture, and effect—especially in black and other dark-effect colours—continues to be challenging.

Unveiled at Automechanika Frankfurt 2026, the feature is especially useful for black and other dark-effect colours, where subtle variations in undertone, texture, and visual effect can be challenging to identify through conventional visualisation methods.

LightAssist is designed to support, rather than replace, established workflows and painters’ expertise by offering an additional evaluation tool within Refinity’s end-to-end digital colour-matching process. It enables body shops to detect unsuitable formulas sooner, select matches with greater confidence, and minimise unnecessary process steps.
